Carbon County commissioners

On Thursday, the Carbon County Commissioners discussed the following:

• Adopted a certification of county match funds for the 2020 Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Program, to be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The total is $25,874.

• Approved a proposal with Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP of Allentown for the purchase and installation of access control, CCTV and wireless duress system at the new office space for the Carbon County District Court office in Weatherly. The price is $24,086.03 and will partially be covered by a grant.

• Commissioner Chris Lukasevich spoke about House Bill 1069, which passed the House and moves onto to the Senate. The bill requires counties and municipalities to put meeting agendas online at least 24 hours ahead of the meeting.

On Jan. 6, he made a motion to begin posting the agendas online, but the motion died for lack of a second.

Lukasevich said some discussion has taken place and he will be re-entering the motion during next week’s commissioners’ meeting. If the motion is approved, the board can begin phasing in posting meeting agendas before it is required.Personnel
