Tamaqua Police are investigating several cases in which a check was taken from the mail.

The checks have been altered to reflect different recipients, and in some cases, different amounts. It is unknown how the mail was stolen from post office sidewalk drop boxes in Tamaqua.

Tamaqua Police are working with the postal service to correct the issue and further secure the drop boxes. Police would ask that if you are mailing any checks, to drop them off inside the post office, or with your mail carrier.
