Spaghetti dinner

A spaghetti dinner will be held at the Living Hope Light House Church, 705 Third St. in Palmerton from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday. The event is a youth group fundraiser.

Little White Church

The Palmerton Area Historical Society has rescheduled the ecumenical service at the Little White Church, Third Street and Columbia Avenue in Palmerton to 3 p.m. Sunday. Donations for the CACPAC children’s toy drive will be accepted.

Model railroad society

The Carbon Model Railroad Society, 529 Ore St., Bowmanstown, will be holding its holiday open house. The schedule is Thursdays, Dec. 5 and 12, and Jan. 2, from 7-9 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15, and Jan. 4 and 5, from 1-4 p.m.

The main HO Scale operating display is in various stages of completion and is an excellent learning tool. The club’s HO and N displays will also be in operation and there will be a Model Railroad Yard Sale. Admission is free; donations are welcome. For more information, call Garry at 610-826-6636.

Holiday shopping

A holiday shopping extravaganza/basket auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Social Hall, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. Over 25 vendors and crafters, a basket raffle and baked goods will be available. The kitchen will be open. The event is sponsored by Palmerton Area High School Class of 1983.

Holy Trinity news

The children’s special involvement in the worship service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, is the second Sunday of the month. The next is Dec. 8. Worship is at 10:15 a.m.

The Charlie Brown Christmas tree is set up in the narthex. All donated items should be new and not wrapped so they can be easily matched with a need for woman or child. In addition to undies for women and children, they also need hats, gloves, scarves, disposable diapers and personal items. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated.

Children’s Christmas party

A children’s Christmas party will be held at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., from 6-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 and will include story time, games and crafts for kids in kindergarten through third grade. Call the library at 610-826-3424 to sign up.

Class of 1952

Palmerton Area High School Class of 1952 will meet for lunch at Bert’s on Delaware Avenue at noon on Dec. 11. For information, please call Peter Blynn at 484-225-8532.

Christmas caroling

Living Hope Light House Church, 705 Third St. in Palmerton will host Christmas caroling on Dec. 11. Fellowship will be at 6:30 p.m. and caroling at 7:15 p.m. Meet at the church and bring a friend.

Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The theme Celebrate the Season will include organ selections by Carbon County’s celebrated organist, Randall Perry.

Community meal

A free community meal will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. Come enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

Gaming Grotto

Gaming Grotto is open to the public and is hosted by Living Hope Light House Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton. The event is held the first and third Friday of each month. The dates for December are Dec. 6 and 20. This is a free gaming lounge where people can build relationships through the gaming culture. Have gaming systems of all kinds and board games. Refreshments are available for a small fee.

Grief & Loss Support Group

The monthly Grief and Loss Support Group will meet at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. and Dec. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Directed by a professional counselor, Sue Featro, this group is for people experiencing grief due to trauma, loss or death. It is an effort to assist people in the surrounding community to heal and find peace.

Faith Alive Sunday worship schedule with Pastor Rob Timlin: 8:30 a.m. contemporary worship, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes for all ages, and 10:45 a.m. traditional worship. Wednesdays 7 p.m. prayer and teaching. Everyone is welcome.
