Annual fishing derby a success in Slatington

Springside Sportsmen Club held its fourth Annual Youth Fishing Contest on Saturday. Lisa Herzog, organizer, said they stocked 1,350 trout in Trout Creek along the Covered Bridge in Slatington.

As of noon, 359 kids registered, with fishing open until 2 p.m.

The biggest fish that was caught was 27½ inches.

All of the kids were trying for the longest one stocked - 30 inches.

Each child was allowed to catch five fish.

Organizer Lisa Herzog thanked all of the volunteers, sponsors and vendors that were in attendance.

“This was the biggest attendance so far. The community really came together,” she said.
