Nesquehoning Historical Society to meet

The October meeting of the Nesquehoning Historical Society will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at 157 W. Railroad St. The society is located in the building of the former Nesquehoning Baptist Church.

Nominations will be made for the 2020 slate of officers during the meeting. November and December events will also be discussed.

In recognition of the upcoming Halloween holiday, members will be sharing their recollections of trick-or-treating from yesteryear. Members are invited to wear simple costumes or holiday-themed clothing. Members are also invited to bring trick-or-treat snacks to share with the other attendees.

Visitors are invited to browse the historical society’s collection during the regular weekly open house hours from 9 to noon on Saturdays.

The Nesquehoning Historical Society welcomes the donation of display cases and other items needed for the maintenance of the building. The society hosts community lectures and special history-themed trips for members and guests.

The society derives its income from rummage sales, private donations, annual memberships, basket raffles and special grants.

All meeting are open to the public.

For those who would like to join the Nesquehoning Historical Society, the dues are $10 per year. Payment can be made at Tuesday’s meeting. For those who are unable to attend the meeting, but would still like to support the mission of the Society, dues may be mailed by check or money order to the Nesquehoning Historical Society, 157 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
