Friends of the Library

Friends of the Palmerton Area Library will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Library. Everyone is welcome.

Fiber Guild

The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library at 7 p.m. Oct. 1. This group explores all things related to fiber arts (spinning, weaving, etc.) Come check it out the first Tuesday of each month.

Food pantry

The food pantry for Palmerton Area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton on Friday. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.

The Palmerton Food Bank is always in need of canned goods and nonperishable food items and monetary donations. If you can help, please bring food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis.

Gaming Grotto

Gaming Grotto is open to the public and is hosted by Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 N. Third St., Palmerton. The event is held the first and third Friday of each month. For the month of October, the dates are Oct. 4 and 18 from 7 to 11 p.m. This is a free gaming lounge where people can build relationships through the gaming culture. Gaming systems of all kinds and board games are available. Refreshments are available for a small fee.

Persian Donut Sale

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville is holding a Persian Donut sale. For price and to order, please call 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403. All orders are due by Oct. 13. Pick up donuts at the church from 9-11 a.m. on Oct. 24.

Pet first aid

Open to the public and hosted by the Palmerton Area Library and the World Wide Academy Training Services, a pet first aid training program will be held at the library from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. This training prepares you to address the most common emergencies that can occur with small and larger dogs as well as cats.

St. John’s Lutheran

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton will observe Harvest Home during its worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Sunday school is at 9 a.m.

Holy Trinity News

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship service at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday. This will be a Healing Service with Communion. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. and adult Sunday school is at 9 a.m.

Looking ahead to the Church Bazaar on Oct. 12, new items are needed for the Chinese auction, white elephant treasures and jewelry, Christmas items and handcrafted items for the craft table. Bring your items to the church office. Don’t forget the bake sale.

Zinc City

Zinc City Motorcycle Club, Route 209 Interchange Road, Kresgeville will hold its 31st annual bike raffle, fall foliage ride, party on Sunday. Come and join in the fall foliage ride with sign-in from 11 a.m. to noon. Then a party featuring a Chinese auction with 150 prizes. Ticket cost includes entrance to the party with gates opening at 3 p.m. Your ticket price also includes a chance to win your choice of a bike, quad, UTV or $5,000 cash. The drawing is at 5 p.m. Food, beer and soda is included.
