During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners eliminated and created positions in the Tax Assessment Offices, changes that were preceded by the retirement of Chief Assessor Virginia Murray, St. Clair, effective July 5.

The chief assessor position and interim assistant director positions will be eliminated, and replaced by program coordinator and assistant director tax claim/tax assessment. Denise McGinley-Gerchalk will be assistant director tax claim/tax assessment, effective June 10, at a salary of $44,356. The yearly compensation was approved during the salary board meeting.

The commissioners also appointed citizens to three county advisory boards:

Workforce Advisory Board: Darlene Robbins, Frank Zukas and Robert Carl.

Schuylkill County Visitors’ Bureau: Hellen Kocur and Paul Kennedy.

Affordable Housing Trust Fund Board: Dave Young, Gary Bender, James McNulty.
