Tamaqua Arts Center announces June events

Tamaqua Community Arts Center released its event list for June.

• Stop the Invader! Spotted lanternfly information session will be held from 6-8 p.m. on June 6. People will learn how to identify spotted lanternflies and how to effectively destroy the insects if anyone comes in contact. The session is free to the public.

• A paper florist class with Wendy of North Elm Designs will be from 6-8:30 p.m. on June 14. All supplies will be included along with a take-home design pattern. Flowers will be approximately 24 inches in diameter. There is a fee of $35 a person. Preregistration is required.

• Farmhouse Favorites event will be on June 18. There will be a choice of times from 10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. One 12-by-12-inch prepared wood chicken will be provided to each participant. $45 a person. Reservations are encouraged. Sign up at www.classicamyjoanne.com.

• Paint with Paula will be on June 8 at 10 a.m. and June 19 at 6 p.m. The later event is BYOB. Acrylic paints on a canvas will be used, and the painting will be of fireflies. Cost varies depending on size of canvas. All supplies will be included.

• Oil painting will Janet Dean will be on June 22 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. People will be taught how to paint land/skyscapes. A break for lunch will be provided. The event is $50 a person. All materials and supplies will be included.

• Jam Session hosted by Seth Epler will be from 6-9 p.m. on June 22. Drum kits, piano, microphone and monitors will be provided. Musicians are encouraged to bring other instruments. The event is free to spectators and registration fee of $3 for musicians.

• There will be a one-day STEAM camp for children ages 9-12 on June 28 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children will learn about the power of air and other gases, edible art and the biology of plants. There will be a $5 registration fee. Seating is limited.

• Outside the Wall — a Pink Floyd Tribute will perform at 7 p.m. on June 29 at The Stitch, Tamaqua’s Premier Performance Hall. $20 for theater seating and $25 for pub table seating.
