Carbon County court

A Palmerton woman entered a guilty plea on Thursday in Carbon County court to a recklessly endangering another person charge.

She was one of four defendants in pending cases to enter a plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Cheyenne Marie Parr

, 21, entered the plea with a count of endangering the welfare of children dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.

Parr was arrested on July 3, 2018, when Palmerton police responded to a residence along Hillside Avenue for a report of a drug overdose. On scene officers found Parr in the bathroom area unresponsive. Others at the home told police Parr was in a bedroom with her child before they found her in the bathroom.

Police entered the bedroom and found her 3-year-old child on a bed with syringes by her. Parr later admitted injecting illegal substances near the child.

Since her arrest, Parr told Serfass she entered an inpatient drug rehabilitation program and successfully completed it. It ran for 78 days.

Serfass sentenced her to time-served (59 days in prison) to 18 months and ordered her to render 75 hours of community service and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.

Drug pleas

Savannah Lee Sommer

, 22, of Walnutport, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested by Palmerton police on Dec. 17, 2015, along Delaware Avenue. She was previously placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for failure to pay court costs.

Serfass placed her on probation for six months and ordered she get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.

Jamilyn Bytheway

, 43, of Philadelphia, and formerly of Lansford, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested on Feb. 13 by Summit Hill police following a traffic stop at Laurel and White Bear drives. She was a passenger in the vehicle.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Kristopher Dunbar

, 44, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Dec. 12, 2018, by Summit Hill police after they served a search warrant at a West High Street residence. Dunbar was found in an upstairs bedroom with various paraphernalia.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
