Water pressure back to normal at Carbon prison

Water service is fully functional again at the Carbon County Correctional facility after what commissioners said was around a three-hour gap where pressure had dropped Thursday afternoon.

Commissioner Chairman Wayne Nothstein said a valve issue caused pressure to drop to the point where water couldn’t be used at the prison.

“We were pumping at 73 gallons a minute, but the pressure was down,” Nothstein said.

Service was affected from noon to 3 p.m. at the latest, he added.

“We’re back up and pumping into the system again,” he said.
