During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners approved change orders involving the air conditioning improvement to the courthouse’s courtroom 1.

Antz Energy Systems, Shenandoah, was awarded a $256,799 contract in March for the work. Wednesday, on the advice of county administrator Gary Bender, the commissioners approved a $5,839 change order for removal of the existing round ventilation ducts and a $1,971 change order for the removal of two roof-mounted fans.

The board also reviewed bids for window cleaning for the courthouse, Children & Youth building, Human Services building and 911 center, over a three-year term. There were two bidders, Faulcon’s Enterprise & Co., Harrisburg and T&T Window Cleaning LLC, Plains.

The two companies bid similar amounts for cleaning windows at three locations:

Children and Youth: Faulcon’s, $435, $478 and $550; T&T, $525 each year.

Human Services: Faulcon’s, $600, $660 and $726; T&T, $525 each year.

911: Faulcon’s, $420, $441 and $463; T&T $525 each year.

The two firms’ bids were far apart for the courthouse windows bid, with Faulcon’s bidding $14,000, $15,400 and $16,940 and T&T bidding $3,900 for each year. The bids will be awarded at a later date.

In personnel action, the commissioners approved the following actions:

In Soil Conservation, the resignation of part-time conservation program technician Christy Zulli, Wayne Township.

For the office of District Justice Anthony Kilker, Shenandoah, the retirement of Georgeann Bondura, New Philadelphia, and the appointment of Marianne Goodman, Norwegian Township. Goodman will be paid $17.55 per hour.

In the Coroner’s Office, the appointment of Herbert Rubright Jr., Blythe Township, as deputy coroner.

In the District Attorney’s office, the appointment of Thomas Robin, Lehighton, a detective supervisor, through grant money for prosecution of sexual assault/domestic violence cases. Robin will be paid $23.20 per hour.

Stacey Staudenmeier, Ashland, was appointed to serve on the Mental Health/Developmental Services advisory board, a three-year term which expires Dec. 31, 2021.
