Structure burn helps firefighters learn

A structure burn class at the old dam operator's house in Beltzville helped volunteer firefighters learn some valuable lesson in late March.

Thanks to the efforts of Franklin Township Fire Company Lt. Eric Lilly, members of several local companies got a chance to conduct drills in an environment reminiscent of what they would experience on a real-life call.

Some of the lessons included engine company, which encompasses those who go into the building to fight the fire, search companies, ventilation crews, and the Rapid Intervention Team, which rescues any firefighters who may run into some trouble.
