Several charged for roles in Monroe incident

Several people face charges following an incident earlier this month in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department said that at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 4, officers observed Brian Brown, 35, listed as homeless; Edward Kulick, 34, Canadensis; Kristle Wheaton, 32, Kresgeville; Matthew Morton, 28, Saylorsburg; and Misty Dean, 33, East Stroudsburg, acting suspiciously at a Golf Drive, Mountainhome, location, in the area of Route 390 and Golf Drive, Barrett Township.

Officers then made contact with them at the Golf Drive location, but several of the people did not live there, and shortly after police arrived, a man left the residence and ran through the woods away from the scene.

The investigation revealed that the man, later identified as Kulick, was wanted on a county bench warrant.

As this was unfolding, Wheaton, Morton and Dean consented to a pat-down search for weapons, and Morton was found in possession of drug paraphernalia.

A search of the area for Kulick, using a police K-9 and additional officers, located him nearby, and he was taken into custody.

An interior search of the residence revealed another man, Brown, was located hiding in the attic and was also wanted on a county bench warrant.

A further investigation at the property determined that Dean and Wheaton were in possession of drug paraphernalia. They will be charged via summons.

Brown was charged with flight to avoid apprehension; Kulick for flight to avoid apprehension; and Wheaton, Morton and Dean on drug charges.
