Kidder supervisors recognize land donation

Kidder Township supervisors took the opportunity during its meeting to publicly thank Blue Ridge Real Estate Company and its president and CEO, Bruce Beaty, for its donation of land adjacent to the township building. The parcel of land has been used as a parking lot and added more parking for the township.

The township has erected a gazebo on the property and it will serve as a trail head for the future walking trail in the township.Beaty and his associate Craig Harahus were given a plaque in recognition of Blue Ridge Real Estates' generosity.Other businessAlso on the agenda Thursday were:• Resolutions for applications for Local Share Account grants for the Lake Harmony Rescue Squad and both Lake Harmony and Albrightsville volunteer fire companies.The rescue squad is requesting $94,424.60 for two Stryker Power Cots with loading systems. Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company is looking for $15,715 for five sets of turnout gear and Kidder Volunteer Fire Company is requesting $21,044.35 for seven sets of turnout gear.• The township approved a contract with Drop Zone for $10,000 for tree trimming along Old Stage Road.• Police Chief Matthew Kuzma said that on the previous weekend the township had hosted both the REV 3 Triathlon, a gun show at Split Rock Resort and the annual boat Regatta at Lake Harmony with no injuries or incidents.Kuzma thanked the fire companies and the rescue squad, as well as his own staff for their dedication to the safety of the residents and the visitors to the township."We are very fortunate to have these professionals here," said supervisor Thomas LaFond. "Most communities couldn't have handled all of this. I as a resident personally appreciate their efforts."• The township will purchase two new Tasers with money raised during the police department's fundraiser held on July 27.• The township will apply for a $250,000 greenways trail grant from Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to use for the first part of the trail.It expects to hear if it was successful in late September.
