Police report on DUI arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence arrests made by officers.

On July 7 at 12:55 a.m. police stopped a vehicle along Route 390 in Barrett Township for traffic violations. The driver was identified as Darren P. Haniff, 39, of New York City, New York. An odor of marijuana was found coming from the vehicle. Haniff failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI of a controlled substance. He was taken to the county DUI center for a blood test. The test was positive for marijuana in his blood.He was charged with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.On Aug. 10 at 12:22 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along Route 940 at Route 611 in Mount Pocono for a traffic violation. While speaking with the driver, identified as Wayne Carr, 28, of Scranton, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the DUI center for a blood test. Police also learned that Carr's license was under suspension. He also had three children in the vehicle between the ages of 2 and 8.He was charged with DUI, endangering the welfare of children, driving under suspension and a vehicle code violation.
