String of car break-ins reported in Palmerton

Palmerton residents are urged to lock their vehicles following a string of car break-ins.

Borough Police Chief Randy Smith said the borough has been experiencing a "rash of car entries" in which valuables, such as loose change, credit cards, and sunglasses are being stolen.

Smith said residents should "leave nothing in plain sight inside your car."

No vehicles have been damaged to date, as all the vehicles that have been entered were unlocked, Smith said.

He said the break-ins have occurred "all over the borough" for about three weeks, with anywhere from five to six cars per day.

Smith said anyone with information should contact the police department at 610-826-4055, or on its Facebook page.
