CCTI approves personnel motions, budgets

The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon County Technical Institute approved the following personnel motions:

• Jacob Haydt as an adult education instructor at the rate of $21 per hour on an as-needed basis through June 2017, pending required clearances.• Health Medical instructional aide Autumn Frey as assistant adviser for Health Occupations Students of America for the 2016-2017 school year.• Donna Valent as a clerical assistant for the 2016-2017 school year.• Precision machine technology instructor Kevin Kuehner will chaperone one student on a field trip to the HAAS Factory Outlet in Bensalem on March 29.• Auto service and technology instructor Harold Resh, along with auto service and technology aide John Rogers, will chaperone 14 students to the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers show in Bethlehem on March 23.• Resh, Rogers, auto collision repair instructor Dennis Starry, and auto collision repair instructional aide Donald McGorry will chaperone 42 students on a field trip to the Wheels Auto Museum in Allentown on April 4.• Resh, Rogers, Starry, and McGorry will chaperone 42 students on a field trip to the Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet and Corral in Carlisle on April 21.• Four students were approved to attend the DECA International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California, from April 22 to April 29, at a cost of $5,000 to assist with registration, transportation and lodging expenses. Each student will pay $100, as well as any meal expenses.• DECA major adviser Stephanie Barto will chaperone the four students at the DECA International Career Development Conference, at a cost of $1,867.75 to assist with registration, transportation and lodging expenses.• Health medical instructor Michele Dominic and coordinator of school improvement Margaret (Peggy) Kalogerakis will chaperone 14 students on a field trip to the National Museum of Health and Science in Silver Springs, Maryland, on May 11.• Eleven Health Medical students will attend the HOSA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, from June 20 to 25, at a cost of $4,990 to cover the cost of registration and lodging. Students will be responsible for their airfare and meals.• Health medical instructional aide Autumn Frey will chaperone 11 students participating in the HOSA National Leadership Conference, at a cost of $2,090 to cover the cost of registration, lodging, meals and airfare.• Brandon Poole, assistant to the director of technology, attending the 2017 PDE Data Summit at Hershey Lodge in Hershey on March 13, at a cost of $219 to cover the cost of registration and transportation.• Elizabeth Porter, facilitator of special education, and Scott Bartholomew, special education teacher, will attend Lehigh University's 45th Special Education Law Conference at the university's Mountaintop Campus in Bethlehem on May 12, at a cost of $195 each to cover registration.Budget approvals• The 2017-2018 proposed operating budget was approved, totaling $8,210,852.• The 2017-2018 proposed operating budget for the adult education program, totaling $110,910.• The 2017-2018 proposed operating budget for the carbon Alternative High School Diploma Program, totaling $225,000.• The tuition rate was set for the Carbon Alternative High School Diploma Program at the rate of $7,500 per year for the 2017-2018 school year. The daily rate will be $37.50.SalariesSalary rates for the 2017-2018 school year were approved for the following positions: DECA/HOSA/Skills USA advisers, $2,300; Senior Class Advisor, $2,300; Underclass Advisor, $2,300; Student Council, $2,300; NTHS, $2,300; Yearbook, $2,300; Rotary Interact, $2,300; SADD, $2,300; Skills USA/DECA Assistant Advisors, $1,600 each, and Aevidum - $1,600
