Lehighton man found not guilty of harassment

Following a bench trial in Carbon County court this week a Lehighton man was found not guilty of a summary offense of harassment.

Judge Steven R. Serfass found Shakin Saleem, 76, not guilty following the short trial. Saleem was charged by Lehighton police with an incident at the high-rise building on South First Street on April 19, 2015.Police charged that Saleem put a "chokehold" on Joseph Lightwik, another tenant at the high-rise, in the plaza area of the high-rise building.Saleem was scheduled to go on trial before a jury this week on a charge of simple assault. That charge was dropped by the commonwealth. The jury was then dismissed and the summary bench trial was then conducted.
