Tamaqua police have asked for a warrant to be issued for John R. Muffley Jr., 35, of 215 Brown St., Tamaqua. The warrant is in connection with a domestic assault on March 29.

Officers were dispatched to a domestic in progress on Patterson Street at 12:06 p.m. The caller said Muffley had punched a female victim in the face, then pulled her out of his Ford Ranger and tossed her into the street in front of an approaching fuel oil truck. The truck driver was able to stop before striking the woman.Several witnesses confirmed the account. Officers searched for Muffley but were unable to find him.Muffley will be charged with aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct.Anyone with information on his whereabouts may contact police at 570-668-5000 or 570-668-2100.
