Landlords of Slatington are going to have to keep a closer eye on their rental properties regarding property maintenance codes.

The old ordinance for the borough had only the tenants listed as a responsible party for upholding property maintenance codes for the rented area, but that will soon change."What if the tenant does nothing? We have to wait for the tenant to leave to do something," office manager Duane Dellecker said.A motion was unanimously passed to modify property codes to now hold the landlords accountable for noncompliance with the borough's codes.
