This week we'll be publishing tidbits of Lehighton history in conjunction with the celebration committee.

Attend the Lehighton 150th Anniversary Celebration Committee event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pfc. Clyde R. Houser Jr. Building/Borough Annex to answer a questionnaire and win prizes.TODAY'S FACTS:• In 1887, the Carbon House auctioned off a bear as a prize. The bear was won by the bartender at the Carbon House. Second prize was a bag of flour.• In 1913, First Street in Lehighton was paved with bricks.• Dr. J.J. Humphries, a local dentist, introduced the first airplane to Lehighton in 1918. He purchased a World War I airplane, and landed it in the center of the fairgrounds.
