Memorial Day services today

The following services are scheduled today:

The American Legion Post 16 in Slatington will hold memorial services at the following cemeteries, leaving the post home at 8 a.m.: Catholic Cemetery on Washington Street, 8:05 a.m.; Slatedale Cemetery, 8:30 a.m.; Trout Creek New Covered Bridge at 5 N. Seventh St., where flowers will be scattered in the creek to remember veterans lost at sea, 8:50 a.m.; then back to the post home to form the parade.

Slatington, 95th consecutive Memorial Day Parade, starting at 10 a.m. from Main and Second streets to the Fairview Cemetery, where memorial services will start at 10:30 a.m. In case of inclement weather, services will be held at the Slatington Baptist Church, 509 Main St.

Summit Hill, memorial services at 10 a.m. in Ludlow Park on Monday before the start of the Memorial Day parade at 11 a.m

Tamaqua Memorial Day parade, 10 a.m.

Hometown, Memorial Day Service, Sky-View Memorial Park Cemetery, 11:30 a.m.

Palmerton Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m., with service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Borough Park.

Lansford American Legion Memorial Day services begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Monument in Kennedy Park. There will be no parade this year. The Legion will place flags on veterans' graves in the Summit Hill cemeteries before Memorial Day.

Lehighton VFW Adjutant will lead services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lehighton cemetery at Fourth & Allen Streets Lehighton

American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, Memorial Day service, 11 a.m. at the intersection of Route 209 and Fairgrounds Road. Refreshments will be available after the service.

The annual Nesquehoning Memorial Day parade will form at the recreation center at 8 a.m. and begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday. Stops will be made at the monuments located at the intersection of routes 209 and 54 as well as at the Lions Club veterans memorial, next to Turkey Hill, for wreath placement, prayer, firing squad and the playing of taps. The parade will conclude at the VFW Post 8008, 300 E. Center St., for the main program.

Dolon-Jones-Martino American Legion Post 304, Jim Thorpe, services include placing a memorial wreath, prayer, salute and taps on Monday at 8:15 a.m., Immaculate Conception Cemetery; 8:45 a.m., Evergreen Cemetery; 9:10 a.m., St. Joseph's Cemetery; 10 a.m., Mauch Chunk Cemetery.
