Hunters make Pa. a better place

For those who may have forgotten, or even disagree, let us say clearly: Hunting matters in Pennsylvania and here in our region.

Hunters drive our economy. They impact our culture and teach many young people valuable lessons about responsibility, awareness of the outdoors and physical fitness.The traditional rifle deer season opened Monday across Pennsylvania.The annual "holiday" closes schools and sends hunters out to share good times with friends and families.We will always support the Second Amendment.Beyond that, we support hunting as a popular activity that enhances both the local economy and our quality of life.And we urge more people to go hunting, and to take their kids along.Teach them respect for wildlife, the environment and firearms. Let them share in the traditions of this sport."There's not enough kids out there experiencing the outdoors these days," Cambria County native Jim Stager of Wexford said.The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat
