Death following Taser use in Tamaqua

Pennsylvania State Police investigators were summoned to Tamaqua after an incident early Friday involving a police Taser gun in which one man later died.

According to a report by state police at Frackville, Tamaqua police were dispatched at 4 a.m. to the vicinity of Fegley's Mini Mart, 30 Center St., for a report of man running around the parking lot shouting obscenities.The man, later identified as Jose Paulino Jr., 38, ran over to the Sunoco station, according to police.Police said Paulino continued to act aggressively, and they used a Taser on him numerous times.He was placed in an ambulance and died on the way to St Luke's Hospital Miners Campus.A state police incident reconstruction team arrived around noon Friday and began placing markers in a cordoned off area at the front of gas pumps at J & J Sunoco, 20 Center St.The area remained closed through early afternoon as the investigation continued.
