A Massachusetts resident was arrested earlier this month for his part in an attempted theft incident at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township.

Township police said at 3:08 a.m. July 8, they responded to Walmart for a retail theft. Two people involved fled the scene in a Honda Accord with a Massachusetts registration. As a Mahoning officer arrived, he located a third person involved running down the embankment away from the store.The third person was detained and identified as Matthew Hunsinger of Weymouth, Massachusetts. The investigation showed Hunsinger and the people who fled in the vehicle had attempted to steal $1,254.05 in merchandise.Hunsinger was charged with retail theft and criminal conspiracy-retail theft, both misdemeanors. He was placed in Carbon County Correctional Facility after failing to post $20,000 bail.
