Fire company to get new flagpole

A portion of proceeds from a spring carnival will be used to purchase a new flagpole for the Palmerton Municipal Fire Company.

Several members of Crusaders For A Cause gathered at the fire station Monday to present borough officials with a check from proceeds raised at the event.Christina Obrecht, president of Crusaders For A Cause, said that just under $5,000 was raised from the carnival, held last month in the borough park."We've been allowed to use the park all these times," Obrecht said. "And we wanted to give back to our own fire department."As for the donation, borough manager Rodger Danielson said, "We certainly appreciate their generosity."Councilman Kris Hoffner also thanked the organization for its donation."I'd like to thank them for all they do to help the borough of Palmerton, not just this," Hoffner said."There are all the things that makes Palmerton such a great community to live in."Obrecht said a portion of the proceeds raised at the carnival will also be donated to Horses 4 Hope Equestrian Center.
