Man caught using stolen loader

A Florida man was arrested in Luzerne County while using a stolen pieces of construction equipment he previously had taken from a site in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Theodore Graeve III, 43, of Northport, took a 2011 Caterpillar skid loader from a construction site off Interstate 81 northbound near the on ramp in Kline Township (McAoo-Tamaqua exit-on ramp) on May 23.He then transported the vehicle to a construction site in Ashley where he used it for work he was doing. On Tuesday, May 27, troopers received information concerning Graeve's whereabouts and went to the Ashley site where they found him using the equipment.Graeve was arrested and transported back to Schuylkill County where he was arraigned on charges of theft and receiving stolen property before District Judge James Ferrier of Orwigsburg. Graeve failed to post the $25,000 straight cash bail imposed by Ferrier and was committed to the county prison in Pottsville.Troopers said the loader is owned by Alan A. Myers Inc., a construction firm. The firm was the victim of another theft incident.Troopers said sometime during the overnight hours of Tuesday into Wednesday someone entered a construction site off Lofty Road, in Delano Township, and removed five, Sullair 30-pound jack hammers. The criminals also took fittings from air compressors.
