Pa. man gets prison for firing bottle rocket

hARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania man is going to prison Thursday for firing off a bottle rocket that landed in Hersheypark and injured a 9-year-old girl.

PennLive.com (http://bit.ly/1pZrhi8) said 36-year-old Charles Tomes III of Hershey told the judge before his sentencing Thursday that it was an accident.

Dauphin County prosecutors said the projectile was fired from a wine bottle in the yard of a bar beside the park.

A New Jersey girl vacationing with her family suffered burns in the July 6 incident.

Tomes was sentenced to one to 23 months in county prison and fined $275 on his guilty pleas to charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
