A crash involving three cars along Route 248 near Parryville shut down the four-lane highway for over an hour Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened at the intersection of Club Road between Parryville and Bowmanstown, in Lower Towamensing Township, at 1:58 p.m.
Debris was spread across the roadway. Two vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lanes while the third car was off to the side of the westbound lanes.
State police at Lehighton said Robert Geigle, 44, of Lehighton, was operating a 2002 Audi A8L eastbound and was stopped, attempting to make a left turn onto Club Road.
Tyler Hosier, 22, of Palmerton, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Volt, was eastbound and struck the rear of the Audi. The impact forced the Audi into the westbound lanes where it was then struck by a Jeep operated by George Hamilton, 74, of Shelocta, Indiana County.
The three drivers were transported from the scene by Lehighton Ambulance. Troopers said the three all suffered moderate injuries.
Members of the Aquashicola Fire Company extricated one victim from his vehicle. They also cleared the debris from the roadway.
