Stolen car crashes in Schuylkill, suspect detained

Troopers responded to the area of Blue Mountain Drive in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County, Monday afternoon for a stolen vehicle that had crashed in the area and the occupants had fled from the scene.

State police said troopers were advised of a stolen BMW 850i which had crashed in the area of Blue Mountain Drive and the occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Troopers from both Troop M and Troop L set up a large perimeter in the vicinity of Route 309/Blue Mountain Drive and Fort Franklin Road, but were initially were unable to locate the occupants of the vehicle. Numerous agencies along with drones and K-9 Units assisted in the search.

At about 2 p.m., an occupant of the vehicle was located and identified by law enforcement.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Assisting agencies are Pennsylvania Game Commission, Lehigh County Detectives, West Penn Township Police Department, Pottsville Police Department, Lehigh County Special Operations and Hazleton Police Department.
