The Weatherly Institute for Robotics and Engineering, 401 First St., Weatherly is looking for participants of high school age interested in entering The Real World Design Challenge, Precision Agriculture Challenge.

This year's challenge will be focused on the design and implementation of a UAS to support precision agriculture, specifically the monitoring and assessment of crop conditions to achieve increased yield. The teams will employ a systems engineering design and integration approach and support their work with a business case. Students will learn engineering principle through a inquiry-based approach in a highly interactive and experiential setting.The challenge is to design the exterior geometry and internal structure of an UAS, Drone, which could be used in the study of agricultural usage. Over and above the design, a business RFP will be generated and presented to various sections of the Department of Agriculture.The Weatherly Institute for Robotics and Engineering will host and mentor this engineering design and build team. For the past nine years the Institute has provided a place from which young men and women have built and designed differing engineering projects.
