One final run for the 2013 Grid Picks

It's been quite an interesting football season and we put it to bed with our final Grid Picks in this issue.

Northwestern Lehigh and Marian vie for Eastern Conference Championships tonight and quietly slip us into the winter sports season as the first day of high school practice greets on on Monday.Bob Ford, Chief Photographer here at THE TIMES NEWS, holds a three-game lead over Brad Hurley and perennial TN Grid Picks champ Jason Boris entering this final week. Ford has been at or near the top the entire season so all of us out of contention are all pulling for him because he deserves it.I'd just like to finish in the top five, but that might be a stretch considering I'm four games back of Andy Steinmetz. So let's get to it:NORTH SCHUYLKILL AT NORTHWESTERN - Spartans have struggled with Colonial League teams, particularly Northern Lehigh in past playoff appearances. So let's give it one more try...Northwestern, 21-20.MARIAN AT MAHANOY AREA - This game should be a bit different than the first time they met, with two different quarterbacks at the helm. That's why I think the result will be a lot different...Marian, 28-24.DELAWARE VALLEY AT NAZARETH - Blue Eagles got off to a slow start last week. Can't afford it this time around...Nazareth, 28-27.SAUCON VALLEY AT WILKES-BARRE COUGHLIN - Long bus ride takes its toll on the Panthers this week...Coughlin, 14-13.EASTON AT EAST STROUDSBURG SOUTH - The Cavaliers looked like an NFL team last week. I don't think they know what a loss feels like...ES South, 21-14.PARKLAND AT WHITEHALL - Brian Gilbert will have his defense ready here, but the Trojans just have a little too much offense...Parkland, 21-14.BETHLEHEM CATHOLIC AT SOUTHERN LEHIGH - The Spartans have done just what they needed to win this season. The Golden Hawks have also...Becahi, 14-12.PALISADES AT CATASAUQUA - The Pirates haven't jumped ship yet, but the Roughies have unfinished business after what happened last season...Catasauqua, 28-7.SCHUYLKILL HAVEN AT WILLIAMS VALLEY - Hurricanes were supposed to be the cream of the crop in the Anthracite Football League this season. Jim Thorpe spoiled their parade, but this takes some of the sting away...Schuylkill Haven, 21-13.JERSEY SHORE AT SELINSGROVE - Our source up North tells us the Seals are the pick there...Selinsgrove, 28-21.ABINGTON HEIGHTS AT BERWICK - George Curry has the Bulldogs playing meaningful games in November...Berwick, 28-25.TROY AT MONTOURSVILLE - Wonder if Mike Mussina is back coaching football at Montoursville?...Montoursville, 7-6.LOYALSOCK AT DANVILLE - Flipping the coin on this one because I have no clue...Danville, 14-13.LAKELAND AT LAKE LEHMAN - We're making this pick in honor of Jim Zbick, who retired here at the TN over a year ago and is a Lake Lehman alum...Lake Lehman, 30-14.OLD FORGE AT DUNMORE - The Bucks don't stop here...Dunmore, 21-18.
