The suspect in an attempted homicide incident in Monroe County has committed suicide at her residence in Wisconsin.

Carol Yeugelowitz, 66, of Kenoshia, was found dead on Tuesday in her home by authorities in her hometown unresponsive. It was determined that she had committed suicide.State police at Fern Ridge had charged Yeugelowitz with shooting her estranged daughter-in-law, Bernadette O'Reilly, 50, of 251 Whisperwood Rd., Saylorsburg, Chestnuthill Township, on Feb. 21.O'Reilly told troopers she answered her front door and found an older woman clad in a blue outfit, handed her a delivery envelope. The woman then shot O'Reilly in the stomach. She was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment. She has since recovered.Troopers said through the course of the investigation, and with the help of two neighbors who witnessed a woman at O'Reilly's door at the time of the incident and noted the vehicle she was driving, they targeted Yeugelowitz as a suspect.Troopers said they learned that O'Reilly and her husband, Vincent, were in the process of a divorce and that Yeugelowitz is the mother of Vincent.Troopers learned that during the time span of the shooting that Yeugelowitz had rented a car in Kenosha that matched the description of the one at the scene of the shooting. The car was rented a few days prior to the shooting and returned a few days after.They also traced the cell phone activity of Yeugelowitz and learned calls were made from her phone in Chestnuthill Township on the date and time of the shooting incident.After the initial interview, troopers learned that Yeugelowitz was admitted to the Hackensack Medical Center in New Jersey for treatment after attempting suicide by overdosing on pills.During the interview at the hospital she said she had become depressed because she thought she would never see her grandchild again.On Tuesday, April 30, Yeugelowitz failed to appear in Pennsylvania for a court proceeding in the case. Troopers attempted to locate her by contacting authorities in Kenosha. They were then informed that her body was found Tuesday in her home.
