The Lehighton Band is preparing for its 150th anniversary season next year.

Paul R. Smith, director, said, "It should be an exciting year with special concerts and other events taking place."

The band rehearses every Monday evening throughout the year at the Lehighton Band Hall on South Seventh Street in Lehighton. Smith said, "We are always looking for new members and now is the ideal time to become involved. Even if you haven't played your instrument in years, with rehearsals, it will come back to you. We can use players in all sections of the band and if you are interested, come to a rehearsal beginning at 7 p.m. and lasting until 9 p.m."

For more information, call Smith at (610) 377-2737.

During the fall season, the band will be going over music for next spring and summer and also prepare for a Christmas concert at the Lehighton American Legion Home on December 7.

Beginning in January preparation begins for the spring and summer concerts.

"We urge any instrumentalist from high school age on up to come join us in providing live music in the Carbon County area," Smith said.
