Concourse Club names Guiding Star for November

Each year the Concourse Club of Palmerton honors five Guiding Stars from Palmerton Area High School. The Guiding Star is chosen by a committee of high school teachers in the district.

A Guiding Star must be a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class and be involved in both school and community activities. Each Guiding Star receives a certificate, an engraved Guiding Star gold charm and a $100 cash award.Morgan Kathryn Mummey was selected as the Concourse Club Guiding Star for November. She is the daughter of Michelle and Michael Mummey of Lehighton. She has two sisters, Megan and Maddy, and enjoys reading, sports and spending time with family.She is active at school in basketball as co-captain, field hockey, track and field, student council as president, Future Business Leaders of America as president, yearbook as vice president, Leo Club as vice president, National Honor Society as vice president, Environmental Club and Student Forum.Her community involvement is youth representative on church council and an altar server.Morgan's future plans are to attend a four-year university to major in pediatric physical therapy.
