West End Rotary expands fellowship

West End Rotary members recently supported its local YMCA.

Tamara Lutz, program director of the West End branch of Pocono Family YMCA, accepted a check from West End Rotary Club to cover the purchase of a squat rack and six stability balls. Jill Rehrig, president, and Kevin Noll, service project director, presented the check. The funds for the equipment were made possible by the 5K Bear Run in June.Lutz said the equipment was needed and will help her offer more gym training in the facility, which is located in the former Eldred Elementary School building in Kunkletown. In addition to supporting local business, the West End Rotary Club has expanded by adding an evening meeting for anyone interested."We're extending Rotary's community outreach to new members whose schedules don't allow them to attend a breakfast meeting," said Rehrig, principal organizer of the PM Fellowship Club. The club usually meets for breakfast at 7:30 a.m., Thursdays at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville. Now meetings will also be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursdays at Luna Rossa Cafe & Grill in Gilbert.Over the past few years the West End Rotary has held several fundraisers to help the community. Proceeds from those events have helped purchase equipment for local firefighters, coats for children in need and dictionaries for every third grader in the Pleasant Valley School District. It has also supported regional projects such as the new Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center in East Stroudsburg. For more information, visit the club at
