John Marcin, son of John and Frances Marcin of Tamaqua, was the United States representative at the 13th International World Conference for Investment Casting held in Kyoto, Japan in April 2012. This conference, which is held every four years assembles both suppliers of investment castings and original equipment manufacturers who utilize investment castings representing a $12 billion global market.

Marcin is currently manager of the Casting Laboratory and discipline chief for Castings Technology at United Technologies Pratt and Whitney Facility, based in East Hartford, Conn., which manufactures propulsion systems for commercial and military aircraft and space vehicles. He is also president of the North American Investment Casting Institute, a trade association that promotes the investment casting industry.At the conference, which included over 30 countries, Marcin was honored at the ribbon cutting ceremony at the conference opening as well as the Ceremonial Saki Barrel Opening at the formal banquet. He also was a keynote speaker who reported on the North American market and trends for the future.During his 28 years at Pratt and Whitney, he has been involved in advanced alloy development, advanced component manufacture, casting technology development, and investment casting supply chain management & creation. He also manages activities for United Technologies divisions involved with sand and die casting.He is the recipient of UTC George Mead Medal for Engineering Excellence (highest corporate award) and 15 Patents.Marcin received a MS in Materials Engineering, a MBA from Rennselear Polytechnic Institute, and BS in Materials Engineering from Lehigh University.His additional activities are adjunct professor of Engineering Sciences at PTI, professional engineer for the State of Connecticut, president of the board of trustees of ICI (Investment Casting Institute) and a member of ASM and TMS.Marcin is a 1979 valedictorian graduate of Marian Catholic High School and resides in Marlborough, Conn. with his wife Jeanine and four children, Genna, Julia, Johnny and Joey.
