Tamaqua district payment to IU set

Tamaqua Area School District's payments to the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 School District for instructing special education children in the 2012-13 school year is $986,354. The payments of the 12 districts which comprise IU29 is $8,349,059.

Payments by the other districts are as followsBlue Mountain, $437,844; Mahanoy Area, $558,714; Minersville Area, $688,683; North Schuylkill, $585,991; Pine Grove Area, $1,040,044; Pottsville Area, $1,041,128; Saint Clair Area, $913,768; Schuylkill Haven Area, $432,073; Tri-Valley, $293,334; and Williams Valley, $701,378. The payments are based on the number of students enrolled at the school.The IU board, at its recent meeting, approved a transportation budget for the next school year in the amount of $1,443,708.The major expense is contracted carriers, $958,000; administrator, $59,125; clerical, $21,281; salary of drivers, $88,000; group insurance, $51,750; social security, $10,000; retirement, $15,870; unemployment insurance, $230; workers compensation, $2,700; other professional services, $1,000; purchase technical services, $1,000; repairs and maintenance, $15,000; public carriers, $1,000; postage, $1,500; printing and binding, $4,000; travel, $4,000; general supplies, $15,000; gasoline and fuel, $30,000 and books and periodicals, $1,000.
