Members of the Tamaqua Volunteers community initiative group are collecting donations this weekend for their free Tamaqua Monthly Donation Giveaway. Volunteers are asking people to consider donating leftover yard sale items towards the event, which is held the last Saturday of every month. They are accepting all types of useable donations, to include furniture, appliances, tools, clothing, toys and so on. If you are able to drop items off this Saturday or Sunday, please call Andrew Leibenguth, group president, at (570) 668-1234 anytime Saturday or Sunday to make arrangements. Items can also be dropped-off the day of the event, Saturday August 25, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The giveaway, for Tamaqua residents only, will start at 9:15 a.m. and last about 30 minutes.
