Parents must register children for school

With the end of summer approaching, parents need to be certain that their children are ready for school before Aug. 27. It is extremely important for parents to register their children for kindergarten and grades one through five before school begins.

In order to register a child for kindergarten in the Panther Valley School District, the child must be 5 years of age before Oct. 1, 2012.A state-issued birth certificate or other acceptable proof of name and age along with immunization records and two proofs of residency are required for each child registering.State law requires that all children entering school for the first time must have the required immunizations.These items must also be provided for children in grades one through five.Families who have recently moved into the Panther Valley School District are also reminded that all their school-aged children should be registered for school as soon as possible.The Panther Valley Elementary School is located at 1 N. Mermon Ave. in Nesquehoning.The office is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the summer to register children grades kindergarten and grades one through five.Please call the elementary office at (570) 669-9411 if you have any questions.
