A Philadelphia artist, Petro Mehyk, was awarded first place for his paintings during a contest at the "Art in the Park" festival sponsored by the Lehighton Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President John Angelo said the two-day event was well attended, with live entertainment occurring both days. Mehyk, a 92-year-old artist, displayed five paintings. One was a landscape painting of Lehighton. Jason Hughen was awarded the Franz Kline Memorial Award.
