The Tamaqua Public Library is featuring artwork from artist Joan Morgan Applegate. A native of Tamaqua, Applegate was part of the 1953 graduating class. "After my family was grown, I decided to pursue my interest in art and took classes in Colorado with English wildlife artist John Seerey-Lester and Fred Wetzel of Kempton," said Applegate. "I've participated in national shows at Hawk Mountain and Birdboro as well as local shows in Pottsville and Berks County." Applegate was also a member of the Stone Monkey gallery in Jim Thorpe and was the winner of the Patricia Freeman Memorial Award.
