Pocono arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on the following arrests.

Bryan Smogowicz, 23, of Saylorsburg, was cited for public drunkenness following an incident at Long Pond Road and Winston Way, in Long Pond, Tobyhanna Township, on Saturday, March 24, about 3:30 a.m. Police said they stopped to investigate a suspicious vehicle whose driver fled the scene. A passenger was observed walking away from the vehicle. He was identified as Smogowicz. He was placed under arrest for public drunkenness and placed in the county prison. The driver has not been located, police added.

On Friday, March 23, about 6:32 p.m. police made contact with Sean Hopkinson, 32, of Coolbaugh Township, sitting in his vehicle in Styles Barber Shop parking lot in Mount Pocono. Hopkinson was observed hunched over in the car and police went to check on his welfare.

During the initial contact police observed a bag of marijuana on the floor at the feet of Hopkinson. A further investigation led to a K9 unit being called to the scene. Additional marijuana was found in the back of the car.

Hopkinson was charged with possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence, police said.
