Presbyterian church

The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, has announced its Easter services as follows:

A Maundy Thursday Communion service will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, the worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Holy Communion will also be celebrated at this service.

St. Paul Lutheran

St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will hold its Easter vigil on Saturday, April 7, at 6:30 p.m. The Rev. Marjorie Keiter will preside.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, the guest minister will be the Rev. Stanley R. Trout, a retired pastor from Macungie. He will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Sunday school will hold its Easter egg hunt and party on that day.

St. Joseph Church

The schedule of Easter for St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, is as follows:

A Commemoration of the Last Supper will be held on Holy Thursday, April 5, beginning at 7 p.m. After the Mass, a "Personal Reflection in the Garden" will be held until 10 o'clock. Members of the church's First Communion class, as well, as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, cup bearers and altar servers, are asked to participate in the service.

On Good Friday, April 6, The Liturgical Commemoration of the Passion will be held at 2 p.m., followed by the Solemn Recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and "personal Reflection at the Tomb" until 7 o'clock.

On Holy Saturday, April 7, the traditional blessing of Easter baskets will take place at noon. The Easter Vigil will be held Saturday at 8 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, Masses will be celebrated at 9 and 11 a.m.

Easter egg hunt

St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday, April 8, following the 11 a.m. Mass.Mini food pantry

The Summit Hill Food Pantry, located at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, Hazard and Chestnut streets, will hold a mini pantry on Tuesday, April 10, from 10-11 a.m. only.

Persons who are eligible to receive the food commodities under the guidelines established by the state are also able to receive items from the mini pantry distribution.

Those reporting are reminded to bring their tote bags for handling. They will also have to "bag" their own items.


Trinity Lutheran

Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford, will offer services during Holy Week. A Maundy Thursday communion service will be held at 1:30 p.m. April 5.

The Good Friday Tenebrae service will be held at 7 p.m. April 6.

The Easter Sunday communion service will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 8. The Rev. Roy H. Koehler will officiate. All are welcome to attend.


Summer parking

Coaldale residents are reminded that the summer parking regulations are now in effect. There is no left side to curb parking allowed, other than on designated streets. The police will enforce these regulations and violators will be cited.

Spring cleanup

Coaldale borough will have its annual spring cleanup day on Tuesday, April 17. Large items will be picked up including washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, furniture, tires (limit of five) and tire rims.

All items must have all chemicals removed and doors taken off.

In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.


Omega screening

The annual OMEGA Health Screen conducted by the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will be held on Saturday, April 28, from 7-9:30 a.m., at Lehigh Carbon Community College, 24 E. Locust St., Nesquehoning.

To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-776-6342, Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.). There is a cost for the screening which will include blood tests and self-scoring Health/Lifestyle evaluation.
