Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Oct. 11 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 48 members in attendance.President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting.Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker, who also offered inspirational readings. Birthday greetings were extended to Louise Horn.A date was set for the annual Christmas party. It will be held Dec. 13 at the Ryan Township Fire Company. Christy Joy will be the caterer.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the fire company.Safe treatsThe Hometown Nursing Center, SR54, will sponsor a safe trick or treat night on Oct. 27, for children up to the age of 12. Hours will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m.All children must be accompanied by an adult.Clothing driveThe Tamaqua Area High School Class of 2015 is sponsoring a used clothing drive this Saturday and Sunday, Oct 22-23. Items will be collected from noon to 3 p.m., at the Citizen's Fire Company on Rowe Street.First MethodistLaity Sunday will be observed at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church.Activities for next week include: Monday, "Jesus In the Steps" will begin at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m., Bible study will be at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Bible study at 10:30 a.m., Worship Team meeting at 6:30 p.m., Chancel Choir rehearsal will be held at 7:30 p.m.
