Carbon Band Concert held at PVHS

As rain drops pelted against the roof of the Panther Valley High School on Thursday night, family and friends of musicians from the six Carbon County Schools attended the 2011 performance of the County Band Concert at Panther Valley High School. The concert was under the musical direction of Eric Flowers of Jim Thorpe; Darryl Seiwell, retired from Jim Thorpe; Bryan Buffingtown of Lehighton, Thomas Heinick of Palmerton, Mark Christ of Panther Valley, James DeVivo of Pleasant Valley, and Shannon Shughart of Weatherly. Joseph Gunnels, PVHS principal, gave the welcome and the JROTC color guard presented the colors. One of the favorite tunes played was "The Blues Brothers Revue". Each director got a turn to conduct his own segment of the show. Seniors from each Carbon County School tune up for the festival. They are, left to right, William Heinick of Palmerton, Joshua Williams of Jim Thorpe, Ronald Ezro of Pleasant Valley, Dan Douglas of Weatherly, John Paul Heckman of Panther Valley, and Ben Hauser of Lehighton. Panther Valley's Codey Drum plays the trumpet during one of the numbers.
