Argall TV report to focus on Blue Mountain Ski Area

Blue Mountain Ski Area enthusiasts may want to grab their remotes and plop themselves in front of their television sets this month.

Those who do will catch a local TV report by state Sen. David Argall (R-29), who takes in an-depth look at the ski area as part of The Argall Report. The program will air on Blue Ridge Communications TV13 every Monday in February between 8-11 a.m., and on Service Electric (Channel 19) the second and fourth Wednesday at 7 p.m.The topics to be covered as part of the discussion focuses on how to create and maintain jobs, investments in energy efficient systems, and future expansion plans which will yield more jobs for our area."In tough economic times, I want to continue highlighting employers who have not only maintained jobs, but have a blueprint in place to create new jobs. The tour of Blue Mountain examines expansion plans for a new water park, snow-making efficiencies, new technologies for a better consumer experience, and opportunities for energy independence. I think the show is beneficial to see how local companies are laying foundations to ensure success for years to come," stated Argall in a press release.Located near Palmerton, the ski area provides 32 full-time jobs, along with 1,280 part-time jobs. It continues to expand to include weddings in the summer, as well as plans to construct a recreational water park that could yield up to 30 more full-time jobs and several hundred part-time jobs. The Summer Splash water park will be located in a Resort and Recreation Zoning District, adjacent to the ski area on about 20 acres of the 58-acre parcel at 1660 Blue Mountain Drive.Summit Splash will be an outdoor water splash park that will include rides themed after historic areas of the county, such as the Lehigh River, mining, railroads and the rich canal history. The park will be built in phases, with the first phase being the water park, and, the second phase, hotels/time-share, and more rides, if the water park proves successful.Argall's report is also available online at
