Palmerton Lions Club to meet

Palmerton Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the Blue Mountain Community Service Center. Region Chairperson Liz McElwee will review the Community Needs Assessment with members. In addition, a program in memory of "Colby" the hearing dog is planned.

Community members are also asked to donate used eyeglasses at Houser Newman Eye Associates, Walters Optemetric, First National Bank, Citizens Bank, all located on Delaware Avenue in Palmerton and/or the Palmerton Area High School located on Fireline Road. Eyeglasses are recycled for those in other countries who are unable to afford corrective lenses. In addition, anyone needing financial assistance with eyeglasses can contact committee chairperson, Jim Sheckler at (610) 826-4533. There are financial guidelines that must be followed by all applicants and a written application must be completed and approved.

Any individual or business interested in learning more about Lionism, or attending a club meeting may contact membership chairperson Nick Hawkey at (610) 826-6465 or you may email him at hawkeys@gmail.com.
