Seven area residents among 28 to enter guilty pleas

Seven area residents were among 28 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County Court and were sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes.

James Carlton Frie, 43, of 1413 Valley St., Tamaqua (Walker Township), driving under the influence (DUI), was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) to serve six months on strict probation, including 15 days under house arrest, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete alcohol highway safety school and outpatient treatment and driver's license suspended 12 months. Frie was cited by Trooper Mark Ruscavage when stopped on Valley Street last Dec. 3.Kathy Ann Carroll, also known as Kathy Ann Trevorah, 150 Second St., Coaldale, on a charge of harassment was sentenced to serve five to 10 days in the county prison and pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA). She was cited by Coaldale Chief Timothy Delaney. Charges of resisting arrest, simple assault and disorderly conduct were nol prossed.Louis Vincent Clouser, 39, of 158 First St., Coaldale, DUI, sentenced to six months on probation, pay a fine of $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, complete safety school and outpatient substance abuse counseling. Clouser was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Jeremy Talanca, last Dec. 8.James Joseph Doyle, 36, of 56 Saint Mortiz Drive, Zion Grove, North Union Township, DUI, sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Jan. 3 at 9 a.m., followed by four years and 11 months under strict probation in the IPP, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 10 hours of community service, driver's license suspended 18 months and when restored to insert an ignition interlock on wheel of car for 12 months to monitor any intake of alcohol by the driver. He also must complete the safety school and intensive outpatient treatment. Doyle was cited by Trooper Michael Van Buskirt on Cove Mountain Road, Eagle Rock Resorts, East Union Township last Feb. 15.Ramon E. Soberal Perez, 30, of 142 E. Blaine St., McAdoo, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (CS) in Shenandoah, sentenced to serve nine to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 112 days, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. On a charge of resisting arrest given a concurrent 12 months probation sentence. He was cited by Patrolman George Carado.Donna Lynn Hartranft, 36, of 75 Valley St., New Philadelphia, DUI, was committed to the county prison Nov. 26 to serve 72 hours and when minimum sentence is completed to be placed on parole for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and complete intensive outpatient counseling and driver's license suspended 12 months. On a charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $63.50 costs. Hartranft was cited by Trooper Kurt S. Salak in Schuylkill Haven last April.Christopher M. Reed, 22, of 1022 E. Mahanoy St., Mahanoy City, possession of a small amount of marijuana, placed on probation 30 days, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Reed was cited by Mahanoy City Patrolman George Parnell.John Michael Wronski III, 23, of 425 E. Mahanoy St., Mahanoy City, criminal trespass on private property, was given credit for spending 39 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $100 to James Killian, victim. On charges of harassment and disorderly conduct was fined $50 plus costs. Wronski was cited by Mahanoy City Patrolman Timothy Wirtz.Zachary Allen Starr, 25, Pottsville, possession of a small amount of marijuana, placed on probation 30 days, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and $113 to Bethlehem Regiional Lab. Starr was cited by Mahanoy City Patrolman Jonathan McHugh, last March 10.Charles Samuel Williams, 45, Lost Creek, West Mahanoy Township, two counts of terroristic threats against Linda Yesalavage and Laura Schaefer, Mahanoy City, was given credit for spending 25 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. On charges of simple assault and two counts of falsely incriminating another person received 12 months probation on each charge to run concurrent with the threat sentence. Williams was cited by Mahanoy City Patrolman Charles Kovalewski, last March 7.Michael Joseph Wagner, 19, Auburn, disorderly conduct, pay a fine of $150 and pay $50 to CJEA. Charges of terroristic threats and simple assault nol prossed. Wagner was cited by Trooper David Beam on Forest Street, Auburn, last Jan. 17.Joseph Michael Tokonitz, 62, Minersville, indecent assault on person under 13 years of age, sentence is deferred pending a sex offender assessment board evaluation. Tokonitz was cited by Pottsville Det. Steven Guers.Allen Shawn Johns, 32, Pottsville, identity theft, sentenced to serve 18 months on probation, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $125.85 to Wachovia Bank. On charges of criminal conspiracy and access device (credit card) fraud, received 18 months probation on each charge to run concurrent and on a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $100 and costs.Harold E. Kerby, 69, Seltzer, simple assault and recklessly endangering a person, was placed on probation for three years, and pay $50 to CJEA. Kerby was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jason A. Klouser, last July 19.Amber Michelle Marek-Jolley, 22, Independence, Mo., arson in Pine Grove, given credit for spending 169 days in county prison and released parole for 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. Six charges of arson and one charge of criminal conspiracy were nol prossed. She was cited by Pine Grove Det. Thomas Trotter IV, last Jan. 12, who charged she was involved in manufacturing methamphetamine.Thomas McCabe Jr., 35, Port Carbon, DUI, placed in IPP to serve six months on probation, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and complete outpatient counseling, perform 10 hours community service and driver's license suspended 12 months. On charges of being involved in an accident with another vehicle was given a six months probation to run concurrent, on a charge of failing to stop to render aid was fined $25 and for failing to obey a traffic signal fined $25 plus $100 in costs. McCabe was cited by Pottsville Cpl. Mark O'Toole, on Oct. 27, 2009, on Mill Creek Avenue when he collided with a car driven by Earl Davenport and must make restituition of $273 to him.Thomas Michael McClusky, 26, Schuylkill Haven, DUI, placed in IPP to serve six months on probation, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school and complete outpatient counseling, submit to random urine screenings and driver's license suspended 12 months. On charges of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic, failing to give immediate notice of accident to police and failing to wear seat belt fined $75 plus $150 in costs. McClusky was cited by Trooper Michael Allar on Panther Valley Road in North Manheim Township, last March 1.On a charge of possession of a CS has to serve an additional 12 months on probation and on a charge of selling or furnishing alcohol beverages to minors was fined $1,000. O'Donnell, 29, Ashland, DUI and possession of a CS, sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Jan. 3 at 9 a.m. and when released to serve four years and 11 months on strict probation in the IPP, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, attend safety school, complete outpatient counseling, submit to random drug screenings, license suspended 18 months and when restored to install ignition interlock on car wheel for 12 months. O'Donnell was cited by Patrolman Michael O'Neill, Ashland police, on Sept. 24, 2009.Steven Thomas Rhoades, 20, Schuylkill Haven, possession with intent to deliver a CS at his home, placed on probation three years, pay $50 to CJEA, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and make restitution of $541 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Rhoades was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner, last April 19. On charges of possession of a CS and drug paraphernalia was placed on 12 months probation on each charge both to run concurrent.Bryan Joseph Sullivan, 45, Schuylkill Haven, disorderly conduct and defiant trespass on private property on Peacock Street in Pottsvile, placed on probation for 18 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and have no contact with the victim Jamie Zipp.Debra Bitzer, 52, Orwigsburg, two counts of DUI with sentences to be served at different periods. On the first DUI she was placed in IPP for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and intensive outpatient counseling and license suspended 12 months. On a charge of failing to drive on right side of road was fined $25 plus $63.50 costs. She was cited by Orwigsburg Sgt. John Koury, last May 4.On a second DUI charge she enters the IPP on May 25, 2011, to serve six months strict probation, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and complete intensive outpatient counseling and license suspended an additional 12 months. Bitzer was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner, last June 4. On a charge of careless driving was fined $25 plus $63.50 costs.Brian Thomas Ketterer, 43, Lost Creek, West Mahanoy Township, DUI, sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, complete intensive outpatient substance abuse counseling, perform 10 hours community service and driving privileges suspended 12 months. On a charge of failing to drive at a safe speed was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Ketterer was cited by Shenandoah Patrolman Robert Senape, last May 22.James Lee, 21, Schuylkill Haven, indecent assault, sentenced deferred pending evaluation by state sex offender assessment board. Lee was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Warren Firing, last Feb. 18.Frederick Francis Rabbits III, 28, Orwigsburg, defiant trespass on property at 785 N. Garfield Avenue, Schuylkill Haven, was placed on probation 12 months and pay $50 to CJEA. On a charge of public drunkenness was fined $100. Rabbits was cited by Patrolman David T. George, last April 25.Rebecca Boulhanna, 49, Schuylkill Haven, public drunkenness, fined $50, and pay $50 to CJEA. She was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner, last April 29.Matthew Lee Edwards, 27, Ashland, retail theft at Redner's Warehouse Market, Shenandoah, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 20 hours of community service and make restitution of $9.36 to the store.Hope A. McManus, 23, Shenandoah, two counts of retail theft from One Stop Store and Dollar General Store, both in Shenandoah, placed on probation 18 months, pay $100 to CJEA, and perform 20 hours community service.William S. Walters, 33, Schuylkill Haven, delivery of a CS, sentenced to serve two to four years in a state correctional institution with credit for serving 15 days in the county prison, pay a fine of $100, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. The sentence begins Dec. 3.Each defendant must pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
