Troop L to participate in national campaign

State police Troop L will be participating in the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign from Nov. 15-27. This is an effort to keep the state highways safe during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

If a driver is stopped, and anyone in the vehicle is not properly restrained, the driver can receive two citations.State law provides that every driver and front seat passenger shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt.Children under the age of 4 must be in a Child Passenger Safety Seat (anywhere in the vehicle) and children ages 4-8 be securely fastened in a booster seat, anywhere in the vehicle.A driver under the age of 18 may not operate a vehicle in which the number of passengers exceeds the number of seat belts.During this time Troop L will also be offering free child passenger seat inspections at the following times and locations: Drivers should bring their child with them to ensure a proper fit. Drivers should allow 30 minutes per car seat.Area locations include:Frackville barracks on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 2-6 p.m. at the West End Fire Co., 700 W. Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City.Schuylkill Haven barracks on Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at A Step Ahead Daycare, located at 768 SR183, in Schuylkill Haven. This is by appointment.
